Delilah was a horribly ignored little dog that was forcibly given up to her regional sanctuary. The tiny dog was frightened when she first arrived – quite understandable given that all she knew in her life was indifference.
She was also an older dog, so she was placed in the care of The Mr. Mo Project, a non-profit organization. Chris and Mariesa Hughes of Clifton Park, New York City, run the rescue, which has seen its fair share of senior dogs over the years.
Nonetheless, nothing could have prepared Chris and Mariesa for what they were about to witness. Delilah, on the other hand, was in terrible shape. Her hair was so matted that it was cutting off the blood supply to her leg, making it difficult for her to walk.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, the bad canine was struggling with a broken jaw from the past. It was clear that it had not been treated, which meant that it did not heal properly and that none of her teeth were aligned. She was barely able to eat as a result of this.
Chris and Mariesa welcomed her into their hair family by bringing her home with them. Delilah was revealed to be a very sweet pooch beneath her fearful exterior.
In regards to her health, Chris told The Dodo, “It just blew my mind how someone could have a dog like this.” Just in such a terrible state.”
Delilah’s foster family tried their hardest to care for her, but her health problems were too much for them to handle. Her front leg had to be amputated, and she had to have all of her teeth extracted. She did, however, have to recover for a long time after her surgeries. But it gave Delilah a new lease on life, and she thrived!
Delilah’s personality began to emerge even without her front leg, according to Mariesa, and she ended up becoming a “incredibly varied dog,” even on three legs.
The little dog became an integral part of the family very quickly. Chris and Mariesa couldn’t imagine life without the little dog, so they decided to adopt her as a family member. The couple even gave Delilah her very own pink collar as part of a lovely little ceremony for her. And, as she was being presented with her collar as an official member of the family, her fellow fur siblings were overjoyed to have her join them.
” She’s currently the dog she always wished to be, and she may not have thought that could ever happen,” Mariesa added.
After fostering, the pleased family shared on Instagram, “She was an afraid, shy, sad girl when we obtained her. Currently she is fierce and fabulous, she attempts to ‘help’ me by reprimanding the big canines for bad behaviors, she supervises from the back of the sofa or above my directly the pillow.”.
We’re so pleased that Delilah lastly located the loving home she deserves.
