Do You Remember Why These Dishes Were So Popular?

I have always had a love of antique and vintage items. I’m assuming it’s because my parents and grandmother shared this love as well, and their homes were (and still are) full of collected treasures. Along with my love of antique furniture, art, and knick-knacks is antique and vintage dishware. My mother and grandmother both collected sets of china and dishware, some of which is what I’m going to be showing you today.

You may be familiar with milk glass, a style of dishware that become popular in the United States throughout the early to mid-20th century. Included in this style of dish was Jadeite Fire King glassware that was mass produced by Anchor Hocking in the 1940s.

At the time of its release, Jadeite was revolutionary. Why? Because it was stylish, affordable, and could safely handle the high temperatures of an oven. People loved Jadeite, and even more so when years later, Martha Stewart featured it on her television show. She even created her own line of dishware influenced by the original Jadeite.

Back in the day, Jadeite was sold everywhere. Now, it’s a collector’s item, with certain pieces worth hundreds of dollars. So if you’re ever at an antique store or spending a day thrifting and stumble upon some authentic Jadeite Fire King dishware that’s in good condition, you’re probably going to want to buy it. Not only is it still a great product (not to mention pretty), but it’s one that happens to seriously hold its value as well!
