Upon further inspection, the custodian noticed that there was a note tucked inside the purse. The note was written by a woman named Patti Rumfola, and it explained that the purse had been lost in 1957. Patti had been a student at the middle school at the time, and she had lost the purse while attending a basketball game.

After the custodian at North Canton Middle School found the red purse from the 1950s, the school decided to try and track down the original owner, Patti Rumfola. Unfortunately, she was actually not alive when the purse was found in 2019. She had passed away in 2013 at the age of 71.

However, the discovery of the purse still garnered attention from local news outlets, and the school made efforts to reach out to Patti’s family to see if they would like to be reunited with the lost items. The family was grateful to have the purse back and to be able to see the items inside that provided a glimpse into Patti’s life during the 1950s.
